The follow-up to "My Arabic alphabet": long vowels, tanwin, shadda, the shapes of the letters, the article "al" with the sun and moon letters, taa' marbuuṭa and hamza. Then we read, slowly, words and short phrases from the Qur'an.

Unit 1

Long and doubled sounds

1. Long vowels: aa, ii, uuThree letters, ا و ي, can stretch the sound of the letter before them. We learn to say "baa, bii, buu" and to read words with long sounds.

2. Tanwin: an, in, unWhen a vowel is written twice at the end of a word, it sings with a hidden "n": that is tanwin.

3. Shadda: the letter that counts twiceThe little "w" of the shadda ـّ says: "Say this letter twice!" We read رَبّ, أُمّ, مُحَمَّد and the name of Allah.

Unit 2

Letters and their outfits

1. At the start, in the middle, at the endA letter changes its outfit depending on its place in the word. We learn the four shapes of letters that change a lot: ع, ه, ك, ي, م.

2. "Al": sun letters and moon letters"Al" (ال) means "the". With moon letters, we hear the "l"; with sun letters, the "l" hides.
